Cordoama is a coastal bathing water located on a wide golden sand beach with high cliffs in the Natural Park of Sudoeste Alentejano e Costa Vicentina and within a Natura 2000 site. A temporary watercourse terminates on the beach. The beach is suitable for surfing and bodyboarding, with a beach length of 330 metres.

Location

Vila do Bispo municipality. Monitoring point coordinates: 37.1001°N, 8.9458°W (ETRS 89).

Season

1 June to 30 September 2025. Monthly sampling frequency.

Water Quality

Water quality classification for 2024 complies with Decreto-Lei 135/09. No bathing advisories or prohibitions due to short-term pollution were issued during the 2024 bathing season.

Risks

Microbiological contamination may occur due to sporadic malfunction of rainwater drainage systems and during heavy rainfall events causing surface run-off or overflows. Cyanobacteria proliferation is unlikely. Macroalgae proliferation is uncommon. Phytoplankton proliferation is unlikely.
