Corsen beach is a bathing water site located in the municipality of Plouarzel in Brittany, France. The beach has been monitored since at least 2011 and is subject to regular water quality surveillance. Location

Corsen beach is situated in the commune of Plouarzel, located in the Pays d'Iroise area of Brittany. The nearest weather station reference point is Ploudalmézeau.

Public information signage for water quality results and recommendations is installed at the beach.

Monitoring conducted during summer months. Statistical meteorological data available for summer months from 1998 to 2011.

Water Quality

Water quality classification follows European Directive 2006/7/CE. Bacteriological quality is monitored by the ARS (Regional Health Authority). Monitoring results from 2011 to 2017 were analyzed for classification purposes. The beach experienced pollution episodes during the study period.

Risks

The beach is sensitive to green algae accumulation (algae bloom events). Rainwater runoff is identified as a pollution source affecting water quality. Potential sources include stormwater drainage systems, sanitation infrastructure, and agricultural activities in the catchment area. Caravan sites and camping areas operate near the beach.
