A rocky and jagged coastal bathing area located along the Cilento promontories in the Campania region. The shoreline features high rocky cliffs with an irregular coastline characteristic of the Cilento area. The bathing water extends from Spiaggia dei Francesi to Spiaggia dei Gabbiani. The area has been classified as excellent for water quality across the monitoring years 2020–2023.

Coastal Mediterranean water with high rocky cliffs. The shoreline is irregular and jagged, characteristic of the Cilento promontories.

Location

San Giovanni a Piro, Province of Salerno, Campania region. The area extends from Spiaggia dei Francesi to Spiaggia dei Gabbiani.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent (2020–2023). Three wastewater treatment systems discharge into the area: biological activated sludge treatment plants at Lupinata and Capoluogo, and an untreated wastewater settling tank at Scario.

Risks

Possible pollution source identified on the western side: Marcellino valley.
