Davanti Fosso Sgariglia is a sandy beach in Grottammare with fine sand and a gentle slope of 3% on both the emerged and submerged portions. The beach is protected by artificial rock barriers and is surrounded by urban development with a railway line passing through the adjacent area. The distance between medium-low and high water (safe water limit) is approximately 80 metres, with astronomical tides ranging from 30 to 50 centimetres.

Water Quality

Classification E. Wastewater treatment provided by mixed public sewers connected to a biological treatment plant with activated sludge, serving approximately 35,000 population equivalents, located in C.da S. Leonardo. The receiving water body is the Tesino River. COD, BOD5, and suspended solids parameters were consistently compliant in 2006 and 2007. Microbiological controls in 2008, 2009, and 2010 were compliant.

Risks

Accidental failures and overflow from the sewage pumping station in Pineta zona Ascolani identified as pollution sources. No cyanobacterial proliferation reported. No macroalgae, phytoplankton, or potentially toxic species proliferation reported.
