Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent (2008-2011). The Ligurian Sea is characterised by oligotrophic conditions. No cases of toxic algal blooms have been recorded in the past four years.

Risks

Fluvial mouths (foci fluviali) are identified as pollution sources. Several small streams (rii) discharge into the bathing area. Cyanobacterial blooms are not characteristic of the area due to oligotrophic conditions. No toxic algal strain proliferation has been recorded in the past four years.
