Drilandsee Gronau is an artificial lake located in the lowlands with a surface area of 28 hectares. The lake has a sandy and moorish substrate with a natural shoreline structure. Water exchange occurs through groundwater flow with an exchange time exceeding 30 days. The bathing area extends 250 metres along the shore.

Water temperature ranges from 19.6 °C to 25.6 °C (mean 19.7 °C). pH 8.4–8.5. Conductivity 237–283 µS/cm. Water transparency 2–4 metres (mean 3 metres). Oligotrophic nutrient status. Water renewal through groundwater seepage.
