Plage du VVF is a bathing beach located on the shores of Étang de Thau in Balaruc-Les-Bains, in the Hérault department. The beach extends approximately 70 metres and features coarse sand with a rocky breakwater and seasonal sand replenishment. Daily cleaning is performed using a sand screener, and algae is removed each morning to prevent decomposition and contamination. The beach is situated west of the town centre, behind the Belambra Club holiday village on Brassens-Spinosi promenade.

Water

Étang de Thau, a lagoon situated on the Languedoc coast. Maximum swimming depth approximately 2 to 3 metres. The lagoon is the largest and deepest in the Languedoc region, with a total area of 7770 hectares in the special protection zone.

Location

Balaruc-Les-Bains, Hérault department, located west of the town centre on Brassens-Spinosi promenade, behind the Belambra Club holiday village.

Facilities

Located adjacent to the Belambra Club holiday village and Touristra Residence. Beach maintenance includes daily sand cleaning with a screener and morning algae removal.

Season

Official monitoring programme conducted by ARS throughout the bathing season.

Water Quality

Water quality classified as insufficient according to the 2006/07/CE directive based on four years of monitoring results by ARS. The beach profile is classified as Type 3, indicating confirmed contamination risk with insufficiently understood causes.

Risks

Algae proliferation present. Monitoring is conducted for cyanobacteria episodes, jellyfish invasions, green algae proliferation, Ostreopsis presence, bather dermatitis cases, and hydrocarbon or floating matter deposits.
