Fábrica-Mar is a coastal bathing water located on a beach with restricted use in the Natural Park of Ria Formosa, a Natura 2000 and RAMSAR protected area. The beach features golden sand with dunes and typical dune flora. The beach front extends 500 metres. Jellyfish may occasionally appear in the water.

Coastal water body (CWB-I-6) in the Ribeiras do Algarve river basin. Tidal range: 3.4 metres. Mean wave height: 0.5 metres. Usual wind direction: East to Southeast.

Location

Vila Real de Santo António municipality, Algarve region, Portugal. Monitoring point coordinates: 37.1496°N, 7.5522°W (ETRS 89).

Season

1 June to 30 September 2025. Monthly sampling frequency.

Water Quality

Water quality classification for 2024 complies with Decreto-Lei 135/09. No microbiological pollution sources exist nearby. No days of bathing advisories or prohibitions occurred during the 2024 bathing season due to short-term pollution events.

Risks

Jellyfish may appear in the water. Microbiological contamination is unlikely but may occur in rare cases involving heavy storms at sea with long-distance transport of pollutants.
