Water

Coastal bathing water located along the Normandy coast. The area is influenced by four watersheds: Les Hardes, Pont de Bois, la Vanlée, and Belle Croix. The site is subject to tidal and current patterns characteristic of the Côte des Havres.

Location

Bricqueville-sur-Mer municipality, Normandy coast (Côte des Havres region). The beach is accessible by a submersible road.

Water Quality

Water quality is monitored for Escherichia coli and intestinal enterococci under Directive 2006/7/CE. Historical monitoring data exists from the earlier Directive 76/160/CEE. The beach has experienced closures related to water quality. Multiple pollution sources are documented including domestic wastewater, agricultural activities, and coastal discharges.

Risks

Identified pollution sources include domestic wastewater from collective and non-collective sanitation systems, agricultural activities and livestock (sheep grazing in salt meadows), rainwater runoff, port and mooring zone activities, and coastal discharges from Les Hardes, la Vanlée, and other permitted outlets. Hydrodynamic modeling has been conducted to assess bacterial flux dispersion in seawater.
