Water Quality

Water quality monitoring includes indicator organisms of fecal contamination. Classification history exists under Directive 76/160/CEE, with simulations conducted under the newer Directive 2006/7/CE. The objective is to achieve sufficient water quality by 2015.

Risks

Potential pollution sources identified include domestic wastewater from collective and non-collective sanitation systems, stormwater drainage, agricultural activities, artisanal and industrial activities, port operations and mooring zones, camping and mobile home areas, and port channel dredging.
