Saint-Georges-de-la-Rivière is a bathing beach located in the Manche department of France, facing road RD 132. The beach profile was established in November 2012 under the Directive 2006/7/CE framework to identify pollution sources and assess water quality risks. The vulnerability profile study was conducted with support from regional health and water agencies to ensure swimmer safety and achieve sufficient water quality standards.

Water Quality

Water quality monitoring was conducted under the framework of Directive 2006/7/CE. The profile includes assessment of faecal indicator germs and historical sanitary control data. Water quality classifications were simulated according to Directive 2006/7/CE, with an objective to achieve sufficient quality by 2015.

Risks

Potential pollution sources identified include domestic wastewater from collective and non-collective sanitation systems, stormwater runoff, agricultural activities, craft and industrial activities, port and mooring areas, camping facilities, and dredging operations in the port access channel. Bacterial flux dispersion in seawater was modelled using hydrodynamic simulations.
