Fichoza-Hizha Veteran is a bathing water zone located near the town of Varna in northeastern Bulgaria along the Black Sea coast. The beach features a very wide, fine-grained sand beach and is situated in the Priboi resort area. The zone is unguarded and publicly accessible via personal and public transport. Water quality has been consistently good to excellent, with most years meeting guide values for bathing water safety.

Sea (Black Sea). The bathing water body is identified as BG2000 within the Black Sea Basin Area. The coastal zone features a high and steep shoreline formed by sea erosion, with sandy beaches in the Priboi resort area and surrounding regions.

Location

Near Varna, Bulgaria, in the Priboi resort area. The bathing zone is approximately 1,300 metres of coastal beach accessible by personal and public transport. Geographic coordinates: latitude 43°08'37"N, longitude 27°56'26"E.

Facilities

The beach is unguarded. No specific information is provided regarding lifeguards, toilets, showers, or disabled access facilities.

Season

The nearby wastewater treatment plant operates from the beginning to the end of the active resort season (summer months).

Water Quality

Water quality classifications from 2007–2021 show predominantly excellent ratings (2007–2011, 2014–2016, 2021) and good ratings (2012–2013, 2017–2020). All years complied with either guide values (excellent) or mandatory values (good or sufficient). Most recent classification (2021): excellent water quality.

Risks

A stream (dere) discharges into the bathing zone and is a potential pollution source. The stream is not monitored within the regular monitoring scope, and it cannot be determined whether it causes actual contamination. A wastewater treatment plant (PSOV Priboi) discharges treated effluent into Dry Stream (Suho dere), which flows into the Black Sea near the bathing zone; however, the actual impact on the bathing area cannot be determined.
