Hizha Chernomorets is a bathing zone located on the northeastern Black Sea coast of Bulgaria near Varna. The beach features a wide sandy strip with fine-grained sand. The zone is situated near the Priboi resort area and is accessible by personal and public transport. The bathing water is a sea body monitored since 2007.

Sea water. The water body is located in the Black Sea Basin. Coordinates: N 43°07'07'' E 27°55'43''.

Location

Near Varna, Bulgaria, in the Priboi resort area. The beach is 1000 metres long and accessible via personal and public transport. The area is approximately 15 kilometres from central Varna and close to the Rakovitsa settlement.

Season

Official monitoring period: June through September, with water temperatures ranging from 21°C to 35°C and air temperatures from 22°C to 28°C.

Water Quality

Water quality classification from 2007 to 2021: Excellent compliance with guide values (2007–2011, 2013–2014, 2015–2016, 2021); Good or Sufficient compliance with mandatory values (2012); Good water quality (2017–2020). A seasonal wastewater treatment plant (WWTP Priboi) operates during summer months and discharges treated effluent into a dry stream flowing into the Black Sea near the bathing zone, though the actual impact on the bathing area cannot be assessed.

Risks

Potential for short-term pollution from WWTP Priboi during accidental discharge. Part of the beach is unguarded.
