Foce Torrente San Severo

Foce torrente S. Severo is a bathing area located on Lake Garda in Bardolino, Veneto. The beach is oriented westward and integrated into the urban context of Bardolino, situated immediately north of the port. The San Severo stream mouth is located at the centre of the beach. The beach has a width of up to 5 metres and covers an area of 0.232 km².

Location

Bardolino, Veneto, Italy. The bathing area is positioned immediately north of Bardolino port. Competent authorities: Comune di Bardolino, Ispettorato di Porto, Guardia Costiera (tel. 1530), and ARPAV (mail: oaa@arpa.veneto.it).

Water Quality

Water quality classified as excellent for the years 2021–2024. Enterococcus: EI95° 8.106 CFU/100ml, EI90° 5.888 CFU/100ml, EC95° 94.099 CFU/100ml, EC90° 49.169 CFU/100ml. Identified pollution sources include the San Severo stream mouth, a mixed municipal wastewater conveyance system with emergency overflows, a consortium collector, meteorological water discharge pipes, and the Peschiera del Garda treatment plant, which discharges into the Mincio river in Lombardy.

Risks

The San Severo stream mouth is identified as a source of pollution. Short-duration pollution events have been characterised through numerical predictive modelling. No cyanobacterial blooms with concentrations exceeding 20,000 cells/ml were recorded in the years 2021–2024.
