Foce Varano is a sandy beach bathing water located in the Varano River mouth in Ischitella, Foggia province, Puglia region. The bathing area covers 0.83 km and is classified as excellent quality based on monitoring data from 2017–2020. The area has not experienced short-duration pollution events in the past four years and shows no proliferation of algae or cyanobacteria.

Location

Ischitella, Foggia province, Puglia region, Italy. The bathing area is located 30 metres to the right of the Varano River mouth.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent (2017–2020). No direct sewage discharges to sea are present. No short-duration pollution events have been recorded in the past four years. No cyanobacterial or algal blooms have been detected.

Risks

The Varano port canal is located at the western boundary of the bathing area and represents a potential point source of pollution affecting water quality.
