Fonte do Cortiço is a coastal bathing water on the moderately exposed mesotidal Atlantic coast with a tidal regime of 3.5 m. The sandy beach is 70 to 80 m wide. During the bathing season, the site experiences average rainfall of 7.9 mm, average air temperature of 21.3°C, prevailing northwest wind direction, and approximately 10 hours of daily sunshine. The bathing water is not subject to any negative microbiological influences and no pollution episodes are expected to affect water quality.
