Freibad Zechin is an outdoor swimming pool located 10 km northeast of Seelow in the Oderbruch region. It is the only public bathing facility in the Oderbruch with a natural water inflow. The pool has four 50-metre lanes, a diving board, water slide, restaurant, and beach chairs. The water is nutrient-poor with average summer transparency of 1.1 metres. The facility is situated within the Oderbruch Camp, adjacent to a 100-pitch campground.

Water

River. The bathing area is in the Oderbruch, part of the Thom-Eberswalder-Urstromtal formed during the Weichsel ice age. Water transparency averages 1.1 metres in summer (range 0.5–1.7 metres). Water temperature maximum 24°C, minimum 10.5°C, mean 20°C. pH range 7.2–7.8 (mean 7.48). Freshwater with salinity less than 0.5 per mille. Elevation below 200 metres. Shoreline consists of sand, meadow, and other materials.

Location

10 km northeast of Seelow, north of Letschiner Hauptgraben, south of Zechin in the Oderbruch. Accessed from Oderbruch Camp Zechin. Campground with 100 pitches for tents, caravans, and motorhomes is located nearby.

Season

Monitored every four weeks year-round according to Brandenburg Bathing Water Regulations.

Water Quality

Classified as excellent for all monitoring periods from 2015–2024. Escherichia coli 95-percentile values range from 109–320 CFU/100 ml. Intestinal enterococci 95-percentile values range from 57–109 CFU/100 ml. One exceedance of E. coli microbiological parameter recorded in 2018; no further exceedances measured. Monitored every four weeks by the district health authority.
