Höxter-Godelheim is an artificial recreational lake bathing facility in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It has been designated as an EU bathing water since 1996. The water body covers 30 hectares with a sandy bottom and shoreline. Water transparency averages 1.7 metres, with water temperatures ranging from 17.1 to 23.3 degrees Celsius. The lake has been rated as excellent for bathing water quality in each of the past four years (2020–2023).

Höxter, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. The bathing area is operated by the City of Höxter (Westerbachstr. 45, 37671 Höxter). The beach or shoreline section is 500 metres in length. UTM coordinates: E: 526097 N: 5734546.

Water Quality

Bathing water quality rated as excellent in 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023. pH range: 8.04–8.70 (mean 8.43). Water transparency: 1.1–2.3 metres (mean 1.7 metres). Nutrient status: eutrophic. No cyanobacterial blooms observed in the past four years. Risk of future cyanobacterial mass development: medium. Risk of future phytoplankton mass development: low. No identified pollution sources from municipal treatment plants, industrial facilities, wastewater discharges, or agricultural runoff.

Risks

Waterfowl presence at intermediate levels may influence water quality. Macro-algae (thread algae) are removed by the operator when they occur.
