Glenstrup Sø is the largest lake in North Jutland, covering 384 hectares. It is one of Denmark's deepest lakes with a maximum depth of 31 metres. The lake lies in a tunnel valley created by glacial meltwater during the ice age and is part of the Skals River system. The beach area around the lake is overgrown down to the water's edge, with a soft bottom of sand and mud. Swimming is recommended at the end of the boat bridge or on the opposite side of the outlet due to the muddy lake bed.
