Plage de la Grève Jaune is a bathing beach located in the commune of Guilvinec in southern Finistère, Brittany. The beach is situated south of the commune and is exposed to the south at the exit of Guilvinec port. The beach is protected from ocean storms by the Men Meur headland. The beach predominantly has rocky sediments.

Coastal marine water. The watershed of Plage de la Grève Jaune covers 12 hectares. Tidal range is 3 meters for average tidal coefficients (low water height: 1.54 m; high water height: 4.64 m).

Location

Guilvinec, southern Finistère, Brittany. The beach is located south of the commune at the exit of Guilvinec port.

Water Quality

Water quality classified according to European Directive 2006/7/CE using two bacteriological parameters: intestinal enterococci and Escherichia coli. Analysis results available from 2009 onwards. Pluviometry influences beach contamination.

Risks

Potential pollution sources identified including natural water flow, collective sanitation network, non-collective sanitation, stormwater network, diffuse pollution sources, and point pollution sources. Macroalgae and phytoplankton proliferation monitored.
