Guincho is a long sandy beach of great natural beauty located in the Sintra-Cascais Natural Park. It features an extensive stretch of sand in both length and width, characterized by strong waves and winds. The beach is popular for surfing, windsurfing, and kitesurfing.

Water Quality

Water quality classification 2023 under Decreto-Lei 135/09. Weekly sampling frequency. Contamination risk is very low based on water quality history. No days of bathing being advised against or prohibited due to short-term pollution in 2023.

Risks

Short-term pollution events lasting 1–2 days may occur due to excessive rainfall drainage from the storm drainage network and from Ribeira da Foz do Guincho. Risk of cyanobacteria, macroalgae, and phytoplankton proliferation is unlikely.
