Heimstettener See is a recreational lake located in the area of three municipalities: Kirchheim, Aschheim, and Feldkirchen. The lake was formed in 1937–1938 through gravel extraction by the German Reich Railways. The recreation area covers 236,000 m², with 110,000 m² of water surface and 69,000 m² of meadow for sunbathing. The lake is fed by groundwater sources and has no outflow.
