Hintersteinersee is one of the largest bathing lakes in Tyrol, with an area of 47.2 hectares and a maximum depth of 36 metres. Previous investigations have revealed no significant negative influences on the water quality condition of the lake. Very low densities of suspended algae and high water transparency (up to 10 metres visibility depth) indicate good water quality. The lake features a public bathing facility with managed beach infrastructure.
