Hollener See

Germany Lake 1 - Excellent

Hollener See is a bathing lake covering approximately 9.5 hectares located just outside the village of Ramsloh in the municipality of Saterland. The lake is surrounded by idyllic countryside and an adjacent small forest suitable for walking and hiking. A neighbouring campsite with a grill hut is popular with youth groups. The lake is owned and operated by the municipality of Saterland.

Water

Inland lake with an area of approximately 9.5 hectares. The lake is fed exclusively by groundwater. Topographic conditions prevent direct runoff from adjacent agricultural land even during heavy rainfall.

Location

Located approximately 40 km north of Cloppenburg. Access is via the B 72 federal highway, exit Ramsloh/Scharrel. After exiting, follow the road for approximately 1 km toward Ramsloh village, then follow signage via Barselkeweg to the bathing lake. Parking is available.

Facilities

Swimming and non-swimming areas. Large sunbathing meadow. Toilet facilities for men and women. Showers. Disabled toilet. Kiosk building.

Season

Official bathing season is 15 May to 15 September. Lifeguard service provided by the local DLRG on Saturdays and Sundays and during summer holidays.

Water Quality

Classified as excellent quality according to EU directive 2006/7/EG (percentile assessment). Nutrient content is balanced. Few water birds are present. No increased algal growth, particularly cyanobacteria, has been observed even during periods of high temperature.
