Location

Castel Volturno, Caserta province, Campania region, Italy. The bathing water is situated near the mouth of the Volturno River.

Water Quality

Classified as Excellent (2020–2021–2022–2023) according to Legislative Decree 30.05.08 n. 116.

Risks

The bathing water is affected by the Volturno River mouth, which receives wastewater from multiple municipal sewage networks, some with treatment plants and some without any treatment. Treatment systems include biological active sludge plants, some of which are partially non-operational. Affected municipalities include Alife, Riardo, Dragoni, Valle Agricola, and numerous others whose untreated sewage enters the river.
