Location

Acicastello, Catania province, Sicily. The bathing area is situated near the old port of the Acitrezza fraction of Acicastello. Coordinates: 15.16565°E 37.56143°N to 15.16659°E 37.56077°N. Area extension is 0.99 km.

Facilities

Services and infrastructure are present in the area. A municipal emergency environmental number is available (1515). Disabled access services are provided.

Season

Monitoring and bathing season is conducted during the official bathing period.

Water Quality

Water quality is classified as excellent. Monitoring is conducted by ARPA Catania. A civil wastewater discharge is present near the old port of Acitrezza in close vicinity to the bathing area.

Risks

Proximity to an old port with civil wastewater discharge represents a potential pollution source. Short-duration pollution events are possible due to exceptional meteorological and marine weather conditions, accidental depuration failures, overflows, or washoff from urban and livestock areas.
