Finland Lake 1 - Excellent

Kangasjärven Uimaranta is a lake bathing beach located on Lake Kangasjärvi in Isojoki, Finland. The beach features a sandy shoreline with a nearby campground and forest surroundings. Water depths vary from 0.5–1.0 meters at the northern and southern ends to approximately 7 meters in the center of the lake. The lake is classified as having excellent ecological status with water quality consistently rated as excellent in previous bathing seasons.

Water

Lake (järvi) with light-colored water and low humus content. Multiple meters of water clarity. Water pH ranges from 6–7. The lake is classified as a small to medium-sized low-humus lake. Depths vary from 0.5–1.0 meters at the north and south ends to approximately 7 meters in the center.

Location

Located in Isojoki at Kangasjärven leirintäalue (Kangasjärven campground), Kangasjärventie 633, 64900 Isojoki. Coordinates: 22.0025 E, 62.1681 N (WGS84). The beach is situated within the Kokemäenjoki-Saaristomeri-Selkämeri water management district.

Facilities

Dock, changing rooms, toilet facilities, rescue boat, life rings, paid swimming sauna during summer season. Campground offers kiosk and café services during operating hours. Children's playground on campground.

Season

Official monitoring period is 15 June to 31 August. Four water samples are collected during the season, with the first taken before the season begins.

Water Quality

Water quality classified as excellent in all previous bathing seasons (2016–2019) based on monitoring of E. coli and intestinal enterococci bacteria. E. coli action threshold is 1000 CFU/100 ml; intestinal enterococci action threshold is 400 CFU/100 ml. No cyanobacteria detected. Probability of harmful macroalgae and phytoplankton growth is low. No administrative measures have been required. Sandy bottom substrate.

Risks

Duck population present. Rare short-term contamination events possible but none currently identified. No cyanobacteria or macroalgae blooms documented.
