Koupaliště Rolava is a bathing facility located in Karlovy Vary in the Czech Republic. The bathing area consists of three designated swimming zones: a pier (molo) 2 metres long, a main beach (pláž) 80 metres long, and a children's paddling area (brouzdaliště) 15 metres long. The water body is a reservoir with a surface area of 0.15 km² and a basic hydrological flow rate of 2406 l/s at an elevation of 374.7 metres above sea level. The beaches are sandy and grassy with a gradual entry into the water.

Facilities

Refreshment facilities with covered seating, toilets, showers, water rescue service, children's sand pit, climbing structures, swings, benches, waste bins. Lifeguards available for designated areas of the water surface. Visitor numbers are below 1000 bathers per day.

Water Quality

The bathing water has an overall satisfactory condition. Microbial monitoring shows intestinal enterococci at excellent quality in the pier and paddling area zones, and good quality in the main beach zone. Escherichia coli shows excellent quality in the pier and paddling area zones, and good quality in the main beach zone. Water transparency meets the 1-metre limit. Algal bloom occurs abundantly in the paddling area (exceeding limits), with generally improving trends. Chlorophyll-a levels meet or exceed limits depending on the zone. Natural contamination is significant along the shore, including plant debris, algae, and duck droppings. Waste contamination is mild, mainly cigarette butts and small debris. Cercaria dermatitis pathogens were not detected.

Risks

Algal bloom occurs abundantly, particularly in the paddling area where it exceeds normal limits. Water transparency occasionally fails to meet the 1-metre limit in the paddling area. Chlorophyll-a levels exceed limits in the paddling area. Multiple wastewater treatment plant discharges in the catchment area pose microbiological contamination risks, with several rated as high risk. Diffuse pollution sources include untreated wastewater discharge from several municipalities.
