Kuršių marios ties Kintais is a bathing water located in the northern part of Kuršių marios lagoon. The beach has a sandy structure and stretches 380 metres in length. The water body is shallow with an average depth of 0.6 metres and a maximum depth of 0.8 metres. The beach is publicly managed and welcomes approximately 100–300 visitors during peak season under favourable weather conditions.

Kuršių marios (Curonian Lagoon), northern section. Average water depth 0.6 metres, maximum depth 0.8 metres. Water body identification code: 00201100. Belongs to the Nemunas river basin (LT1100) and Kuršių marios sub-basin (LT00070001). Ecological status is moderate.

Location

The bathing water is located in Šilutės municipality, Klaipėdos district, Lithuania, within Kintų seniūnija administrative unit. Monitoring coordinates: X=55.4177, Y=21.2478.

Facilities

Three outdoor toilets are available. No showers. Five waste collection containers are installed on the beach. Pets are prohibited.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: excellent (2020–2023), good (2024). Monitoring has been conducted since 2012. The water body is classified as at-risk due to point and diffuse pollution impacts, failing to meet good ecological status requirements for total phosphorus and total nitrogen. Chlorophyll-a concentration measured on 2024-08-12 exceeded 10 µg/l, with swimming not recommended. E. coli and intestinal enterococci exceeded permitted limits on 2024-07-29 and 2024-08-26.

Risks

Short-term pollution events detected: E. coli and intestinal enterococci exceeded permitted standards in July and August 2024. Chlorophyll-a concentration exceeded 10 µg/l in August 2024. Eutrophication is possible with prolonged warm weather periods. Random contamination possible from human negligence.
