Water Quality

The beach has been classified since 2020. Water quality monitoring includes bacteriological analysis and E. coli measurements. Potential pollution sources have been identified including rainfall runoff, natural watercourse discharge, and the Matignon wastewater treatment system. Shellfish production zones are monitored in the adjacent Fresnaye and Arguenon bays.

Risks

Green algae (ulva) accumulation and putrefaction zones occur in the Fresnaye bay. Natural watercourse discharge, particularly from the Fremur, Rat, Matignon, and Kermiton rivers, can elevate E. coli levels. Rainfall events influence bathing water quality. Risk of macroalgae and phytoplankton proliferation in the bay.
