Lac de Haute Vilaine is a freshwater reservoir created in 1982 that serves multiple functions including flood protection for the Vitré and Rennes agglomerations, low-flow support, and raw water supply. A bathing beach has been established on the left bank near the dam on the commune of Chapelle Erbrée. The beach is approximately 110 meters long and 20 meters wide, offering views of the landscape and the water sports facility on the opposite bank. Bathing is authorized and supervised daily in July and August, with shuttle bus service provided from Vitré.
