Water Quality

Bacterial water quality is monitored under the 1976 and 2006 EU Directives. Escherichia coli and enterococci concentrations have been tracked. Classification levels have been evaluated with potential for downgrade scenarios. Water quality data shows variation in bacterial contamination over monitoring periods.

Risks

Potential pollution sources identified include wastewater network discharges, stormwater runoff, overflow from wastewater pumping stations, and treated effluent from wastewater treatment plants.
