Portuais Beach is a bathing water site located in the commune of Erquy in the Côtes d'Armor department. The beach has been classified according to water quality standards established under EU Directive 2006/7/CE. The site is subject to regular microbiological monitoring and surveillance for cyanobacteria, macro-algae, and phytoplankton proliferation.

Water Quality

Water quality is classified and monitored through bacteriological surveillance conducted from 2007 to 2011. E. coli concentration monitoring is performed at the Erquy treatment plant outlet.

Risks

Potential pollution sources include collective wastewater systems, individual non-collective sanitation systems, and other sources. Risk of overflow events and high water level impacts are identified. Potential for cyanobacteria, macro-algae, and phytoplankton proliferation exists.
