Lehnitzsee is a 84-hectare lake located approximately 25 km north of Berlin city centre near Oranienburg in the Spandau-Zehdenicker Havel Lowland. The lake has a maximum depth of 14.4 metres and a mean depth of 3.2 metres. Its basin was formed during the last ice age by meltwater erosion. The lake is part of the Havel-Oder waterway and is used for swimming, sailing, windsurfing, motorsports, and rowing. The southern shore is bordered by the city of Oranienburg, while the northern shore and entire lake surface are part of the Barnim Nature Park.
