Lérat Beach is a bathing site in Piriac-sur-Mer, Loire-Atlantique, in the Pays de la Loire region. It is a coastal beach open to the Atlantic Ocean. The site has maintained excellent and stable water quality for over 10 years. Average daily attendance during the bathing season is 400 to 500 people.

Location

Piriac-sur-Mer, Loire-Atlantique, Pays de la Loire region, France. The beach is located on the Atlantic coast.

Season

Official opening period: 15 June to 15 September. Surveillance period: 1 July to 31 August. Surveillance hours: 11:00 to 19:00.

Water Quality

Water quality has been classified as excellent under Directive 2006/7/CE for all monitoring periods from 2004-2007 through 2007-2010. Under Directive 76/160/CEE, the site received a 10A classification (good quality water) in years 2007, 2008, 2009, and 2010. Water quality is excellent and stable over more than 10 years. One bacteriological pollution episode was recorded on 27/07/2001.

Risks

Two potential pollution sources identified: non-conforming sanitation systems at 550 m distance with weak impact, and malfunctioning pumping station at 150 m distance with weak impact.
