Plage des Engraviers is a pebble beach located west of Bandol, shared with the municipality of Saint Cyr sur Mer. The beach extends 100 metres and is open to the sea, oriented south and exposed mainly to south-east winds. It is framed by the Engraviers headland to the west and the Athéna property to the east. The beach drains through the Graviers valley outlet, with a pine forest behind it.

Location

West of Bandol, Var department, Provence Alpes Côte d'Azur region. Accessible via the customs path (sentier des douaniers) or by boat. Private access is also available through the Athéna residence.

Facilities

No surveillance. Waste bin available. No other facilities mentioned.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent (2020), Good (2021), Sufficient (2022), no classification recorded (2023). One case of poor bathing water quality was recorded in 2021. No sewage discharge cases recorded in 2020, 2021, 2022, or 2023. Primary pollution sources include golf course drainage via the Graviers valley, medium visitor frequency causing sediment resuspension, maritime traffic (grey water discharge and ballast dumping), and dog waste. Collective sewage station discharge is located approximately 1.5 km upstream and poses negligible impact. Road drainage from RD559 is over 3 km upstream and poses negligible impact.

Risks

Occasional bivouac traces. Elevated water temperatures associated with low water mass renewal. Maritime traffic and ballast discharge. Dog waste contamination.
