Season

Monitoring occurs during the bathing season with at least 4 samples collected and maximum one-month intervals between samples.

Water Quality

Water quality is monitored according to Directive 2006/7/CE through microbiological parameters: intestinal enterococci and Escherichia coli (CFU/100ml). Minimum 4 samples are taken per bathing season with no more than one month between samples. Physical-chemical parameters are also assessed including water colour, transparency, presence of foam, phenols, and mineral oils. The quality classification is based on statistical analysis of data collected over 4 seasons.

Risks

Identified pollution sources include chronic discharges, transitional discharges, and accidental discharges. A sewage lifting station at Éden Roc and its discharges are monitored. Potential bacterial contamination from fecal sources is assessed through monitoring programmes.
