Les Iscles

France Lake 1 - Excellent

The Domaine Des Iscles water body is an artificial lake created in the 1990s by former site owners. It measures 150 metres long by 70 metres wide and is fed by groundwater and capillary water from the Durance river. The lake ranges in depth from 0.5 metres in its south-eastern section to approximately 6 metres in the north-western section. The southern beach is pebbly at the lower section and grassy at the upper section, bordered by Provençal reeds and rushes around the perimeter.

Water

Artificial lake, 150 metres long, 70 metres wide, depth ranging from 0.5 metres to 6 metres. Fed by groundwater and capillary water from the Durance river.

Location

The water body is accessed only through the entrance on the main road of the camping site and is reserved exclusively for camping clients. The site is located at Domaine Des Iscles.

Facilities

Swimming zone delimited by floating buoys. Internal regulations posted at the entrance. Three sanitary buildings connected to mains sewerage. A rescue post is open in July and August, staffed by a lifeguard. An information board at the entrance displays internal regulations, access restrictions, opening hours, water classification, and analysis results.

Season

15 March to 30 April and 1 October to 15 November: fishing only. 1 May to 30 June and 1 to 29 September: swimming permitted 08:00 to 20:00, unsupervised. July and August: swimming permitted 08:00 to 20:00 with supervision in afternoons.

Water Quality

Water quality classified as excellent from 2009 to 2012. No pollution detected from 2009 to 2012. Monitoring programme in place with regular analyses. Closure procedures triggered if E. coli exceeds 1800 NPP/100 ml or enterococci exceed 660 NPP/100 ml.

Risks

Possibility of sewerage system overflow with low probability and high impact; site closure procedure in place. Cyanobacteria exceeding 100,000 cells triggers temporary swimming prohibition and toxin testing.
