Location

Located in Borgia, Catanzaro Province, Calabria region. The bathing area is situated in front of forested territories south of the urban center of Borgia.

Water Quality

Water quality classification is excellent. The area is monitored by the Calabria Region, Municipality, ASP, 118, and Arpacal. Wastewater treatment is managed by the Squillace Fiasco Baldaia treatment plant, which uses biological treatment with activated sludge.

Risks

Pollution sources identified include the mouth of Vallone Rotondone and the mouth of Burrone Fiasco. Accidental treatment plant failures and overflow from the Squillace Fiasco Baldaia depuratore have occurred. No cyanobacterial proliferation events have been recorded in the past 4 years. No macroalgae, phytoplankton proliferation, or potentially toxic species events have been recorded in the past 4 years.
