Lido Ceresio

Italy Lake 1 - Excellent

Lido Ceresio is a sandy beach with rocky sections on the southeastern shore of Lake Lugano near Porto Ceresio. The beach offers free access from the lakeside promenade and is surrounded by a children's playground, bar, and restaurant facilities. The beach width ranges from 7 to 15 metres and is situated at an altitude of 271 metres above sea level.

Water

Lake Lugano (Lago di Lugano). The bathing area covers 0.157 km². The lake basin is part of the Ticino hydrographic system.

Location

Porto Ceresio, Varese Province, Lombardy Region, on the southeastern shore of Lake Lugano. Parking is available nearby. The beach is a few kilometres from Porto Ceresio town.

Facilities

Nearby parking, bar and restaurant facilities, children's playground, small boat marina, pontoons. Dogs on leashes are permitted along the lakeside promenade.

Water Quality

Water quality classified as EXCELLENT for the reference period 2018–2022. No regulatory threshold exceedances have been recorded since 2018. Wastewater treatment infrastructure has been implemented at Cuasso al Monte to limit nutrient input from anthropogenic activities.

Risks

Possible seasonal algal blooms may occur. Cyanobacteria may produce cyanotoxins that could cause adverse reactions such as skin eruptions and gastrointestinal disturbances. Potential pollution from accidental or unauthorised discharges of wastewater or contaminating debris, particularly following severe weather events and surface run-off.
