Lido Di Zenna

Italy Lake 1 - Excellent

Lido di Zenna is a free-access pebble beach located on the eastern shore of Lake Maggiore in Maccagno con Pino e Veddasca, a short distance from the town centre. The beach has a width of 7 metres and is situated at an altitude of 196 metres above sea level. The water quality has been classified as excellent for the period 2019–2022.

Lake Maggiore. The bathing area extends over 0.100 km. The lake is part of the Ticino River hydrographic basin.

Location

Maccagno con Pino e Veddasca, Varese Province, Lombardy. The beach is located on the eastern shore of Lake Maggiore, near the town centre. Parking is available.

Facilities

Parking, bar, shower, toilet. Pontoon, small marina, and adjacent playground. Dogs are not permitted.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent (2019–2022 reference period). Monitoring is conducted by the Pallanza buoy (CNR and ARPA) for pathogenic bacteria including Escherichia coli and intestinal Enterococci, as well as cyanobacteria. The wastewater treatment system serving the Pino district (treatment plant Pino s.s.L.M) operates within regulatory discharge limits and includes municipal and consortium sewer networks.

Risks

Possible short-term pollution events may result from unfavourable meteorological conditions such as heavy rainfall, causing soil runoff, water retention, and various spillages. Potential accidental or unauthorised discharges of wastewater or polluting debris. No anomalous events have been recorded. No anthropogenic activities known to promote eutrophication and cyanobacteria growth. No threshold exceedances reported in the last four years. No toxic effects on swimmers or lake users have been documented.
