Lido Windsurf

Italy Lake 1 - Excellent

Lido Windsurf is a pebbly beach on the north-eastern shore of Lake Maggiore near Tronzano Lago Maggiore. Part of the beach is freely accessible while part is an equipped lido with grassy waterfront and adjacent meadow. The area is particularly suited to windsurfing and kitesurfing activities. The beach has a width of 12 metres and is situated at an altitude of 199 metres above sea level.

Location

Located in Tronzano Lago Maggiore, Varese Province, Lombardy, a few kilometres from the town centre on the north-eastern shore of Lake Maggiore. Parking is available.

Facilities

Bar, restaurant, and parking available. Animal access is not regulated.

Water Quality

Water quality classified as EXCELLENT for the reference period 2019–2022. Monitoring conducted by the Pallanza buoy (CNR and ARPA) tracks pathogenic bacteria including Escherichia coli, intestinal Enterococci, and Cyanobacteria. Tronzano Lago Maggiore falls under the AG01212903 agglomeration served by the Tronzano L.M.-Ronco Scigolino treatment plant, which complies with legal discharge limits. The SIMILE project is in place to protect and manage the lake.

Risks

Possible short-term pollution events from adverse meteorological conditions such as severe atmospheric events, including land runoff, water stagnation, and accidental or unauthorized discharges of liquids or contaminants. Seasonal algal blooms are possible. Cyanobacteria are the potentially toxic species involved in phytoplankton proliferation.
