Loc'h Roz is a 400-metre beach in the municipality of Trégunc in Finistère, Brittany, with a sandy shoreline and rocky foreshore. It is traversed by an outlet from a pond and is bordered by a coastal footpath running north to south. The beach is situated north of Pendruc beach and south of Pouldohan beach.

Water

Coastal beach with sand and rocky foreshore. Beach length: 400 metres. Beach surface area: 6,660 m². Intertidal zone area: 103,600 m². Exposed to the west. The beach is crossed by an outlet from a pond fed by a watercourse.

Location

Trégunc commune, Finistère, Brittany. Access via the coastal footpath or the Loc'h Roz road. Parking and rest area available at the road side and near the beach entrance.

Facilities

No lifeguard supervision. Signage board with regulatory information and public awareness. Domestic animals permitted from 30 September to 1 June. Coastal footpath access available.

Season

Sanitized monitoring by ARS (Regional Health Agency) occurs every 15 days from 15 June to 15 September (8 analyses per season).

Water Quality

Water quality was classified as excellent from 2011 to 2021. Since 2022, water quality has deteriorated and is now classified as good, revealing sensitivity to bacteriological contamination. Classification is based on percentile 95 thresholds for Escherichia coli and intestinal enterococci. Monitoring shows recurring exposure to fecal contamination.

Risks

Identified pollution sources include parking and rest area runoff, port activities, stormwater and watercourse discharge, non-collective sanitation systems, domestic animals, agricultural activities, a pumping station, and wild fauna. Urban areas in the catchment generate domestic pollution risks. Agricultural areas present diffuse pollution risks from nitrates, phosphates, and pesticides.
