Punta Staffalo is a bathing water area located in Sirmione on Lake Garda in the Lombardia region. The beach has an area of 400 square metres at an altitude of 68 metres above sea level. The site experiences approximately 20 daily bathers and 350 annual bathers. The area is used for swimming and walking.

Water Quality

Classification is pending. Short-duration pollution events have been identified, attributed to sewage system failures and storm water overflow systems. Emergency discharges occur both at the surface and in depth within the sewage collector.

Risks

Sewage system failures and storm water overflow discharges represent pollution sources. Cyanobacterial proliferation potential exists due to emergency discharges and rainfall leachate reaching the lake, as well as meteorological changes. No previous cyanobacterial or macroalgae proliferation events have been recorded in the last four years.
