Lütsche Reservoir is an artificial lake in the Thuringian Forest north of the Rennsteig at an elevation of 581 metres. The reservoir measures approximately 1 kilometre in length, 200 metres in width, and reaches depths of up to 20 metres, with a water surface area of 0.14 square kilometres and a storage capacity of about 1 million cubic metres. Originally constructed between 1935 and 1937 to supply lime-free water for steam locomotives at Erfurt main station, it now serves recreational purposes and fishing.
