Madine - Plage Heudicourt

France Lake 1 - Excellent

Lake Madine contains three designated bathing beaches: Nonsard-Lamarche (Madine 1) and two beaches at Heudicourt-Sous-les-Côtes (Madine 2 and Madine 3). The bathing water profile was developed to identify health risks in the swimming zones and propose concrete measures to manage and control pollution and potential hazards. The profile covers geological, hydrological, climatic, and demographic context of the lake area.

Lake Madine is an artificial reservoir serving as the primary water body for bathing activities.

Location

The bathing beaches are located on Lake Madine in northeastern France, with one beach at Nonsard-Lamarche and two beaches at Heudicourt-Sous-les-Côtes.

Water Quality

Water quality was classified and monitored between 2008 and 2011. Bacterial detection analysis was performed at all three bathing sites. Quality classification criteria were based on guideline and imperative values for colony-forming units (CFU).

Risks

Potential pollution sources identified include domestic wastewater, stormwater runoff, agricultural activity, industrial activity, road traffic risk, bathing activities, animals, and flood risk. Cyanobacteria proliferation potential was assessed. A lagoon system exists at Nonsard, and drainage ditches are present upstream of bathing zones.
