Madine - Plage Nonsard

France Lake 1 - Excellent

Lake Madine contains three monitored bathing beaches: Nonsard-Lamarche (Madine 1), and two beaches at Heudicourt-Sous-les-Côtes (Madine 2 and Madine 3). The bathing profile was developed to identify health risks and propose management measures for pollution control in accordance with the 2006 European bathing water directive. The lake is designated as a sensitive natural area and Natura 2000 site.

Lake Madine is an artificial lake. The lake is a water body designated as a Natura 2000 Special Protection Zone and Special Conservation Zone.

Location

Nonsard-Lamarche and Heudicourt-Sous-les-Côtes are the nearest towns. The bathing zones are located on Lake Madine.

Water Quality

Water quality monitoring was conducted from 2008 to 2011. Detection of bacteria (likely enterococci) has been monitored at all three bathing zones. Classification of water quality has been tracked over the monitoring period.

Risks

Potential pollution sources identified include domestic wastewater, stormwater runoff, agricultural activities, industrial activities, road-related risks, bathing activities, and animals. Risk of cyanobacteria proliferation has been assessed. Flood risk has been identified.
