Magoito is a long sandy beach with an extensive shoreline located in Sintra. Pedestrian access is situated on a consolidated dune deposit south of the promontory. The beach is considered of high scientific and educational interest in geosciences and is one of the most important natural monuments of Sintra.

Water Quality

Water quality classification based on 2020 data under Decreto-Lei 135/09. Sampling frequency is triweekly. Contamination risk is very low considering historical water quality data. No days of bathing restriction occurred in 2020 due to short-term pollution events.

Risks

Short-term pollution may occur due to increased discharge from Ribeira da Mata during heavy rainfall or sewerage network failure, though such events are rare and typically last 1–2 days. Cyanobacteria, macroalgae, and phytoplankton proliferation are all unlikely.
