Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent (2017–2020). A submarine discharge pipe carries treated wastewater from the Vieste treatment plant, which receives effluent from civil and productive settlements. No short-duration pollution events were recorded in the last four years.

Risks

Treated urban wastewater discharged via submarine pipeline is the identified pollution source. The area is not characterized by algal blooms or cyanobacteria. No cases of potentially toxic algal proliferation have been detected.
