Menez Ham beach is located on the northern coast of Kerlouan commune and stretches approximately one kilometre. The beach is frequented for its historic fishing village and nearby campground. A stream flows into the beach at its eastern end. The beach was classified as excellent quality in 2017 under the 2006 directive. The beach benefits from natural protection provided by headlands to the west and east, which provides partial shelter from offshore waves.

Water

Coastal beach approximately one kilometre in length. The watershed is estimated at 153 hectares. Ocean currents on the beach remain moderate. The beach has partial natural protection from headlands to the west (Meneham point) and east (Lighthouse point).

Location

Kerlouan commune, northern coast. Bendin municipal campground with parking facilities is located on the watershed.

Bendin municipal campground with 200 pitches and a motorhome waste disposal point. Historic fishing village of Meneham with an inn and guest house offering 19 beds.

Season

Bathing season monitoring conducted; profile revision was required by 31 December 2016 due to sufficient water quality classification in 2013.

Water Quality

Classified as excellent quality in 2017 according to the 2006 directive. Previously classified as sufficient quality at the end of the 2013 season. Water quality monitoring includes bacteriological indicators such as Escherichia coli and intestinal enterococci. Monitoring conducted by ARS (Regional Health Agency).
